A vintage Pendelfin figurine, Birdie, a golfer, golf playing rabbit. Features an sweet little anthropomorphic rabbit of ceramic stonecraft, wearing BRIGHT pink pants, a beige and light pink jacket, and fringed beige golf shoes. This impish little creature holds a dimpled white gold ball in his right hand, while his left arm supports a light coloured golf bag full of irons and a tasselled red hat.. The right side pocket is marked, JWH (Jean Walmsley Heap), and the back of the jacket is marked MADE IN ENGLAND. The original foil sticker upon the base states: MADE IN BURNLEY ENGLAND. These fanciful anthropomorphized rabbit figurines came from the lively imaginations of artists Jeannie Todd and Jean Walmsley Heap. Production of these figurines began in the 1950s. The primary designer of these Pendelfin rabbit figurines, Jean Walmsley Heap, passed away in 2008 and the production of Pendelfin from England virtually ceased. This item is an example of work produced in England under the Pendelfin name before production of these was moved overseas. About 4.75 high. In excellent condition.
