Last year HUrricane Isabel pelted the town with rain two days before the festival, and this year Ivan wrecked havoc on the area the night before, but the 16th annual Haymarket Day proceeded as planned. The annual event sponsored by the Gainsville Ruritans and the town of Haymarket, has never been rained out. Although half the parade entrants and many crafters cancelled, an enthusiasic crowd cheered the marchers passing down the town's main street.
