Mara Superior is an internationally known ceramic artist and one of Pinch's founding potters. Her work is handmade in Hadley, Massachusetts. This papillon/butterfly tile is porcelain with white and blue glazes and gold accents.
Barbara Walch co-founded Pinch Pottery (now Pinch) in 1979, with Leslie Ferrin and Mara Superior. She is one of very few American potters who work primarily with the pinch technique.
Her work reminds us of forms in nature, and has an organic yet whimsical quality and her colors are both earthy and gemlike. The work is functional, from vases to bowls to her signature teapots.
These nesting bowls are stoneware with a blue interior. Bowls are approximately:
4.5 diameter x 1.5 deep
6 diameter x 1.75 deep
7 diameter x 1.75 deep
