Looks like world-culture magazine National Geographic has taken an interest in lingerie this week—and unearthed its own Victoria's secret while they were at it! Andrew Evans, the publication's designated digital nomad who continually sends dispatches from wherever he is on earth at any given time, reports that among all the lifestyle and architectural artifacts on display at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Canada, the one item he was most taken by was a pair of Queen Victoria's underpants. Yes, as in underwear worn by the longest-reigning British monarch (and the world's longest-reigning female monarch). Here are three things we learned from Evans' exploration of Queen Victoria's skivvies: 1. Queen Victoria wore cotton undergarments—"plain, white, and square," Evans says. 2. Queen Victoria may have had a 50-inch waist. No, seriously. "I would make a rough guess and report that Her Royal Highness boasted a 50-inch waist (or more)," he writes. "And at the time that she wore these flowing bloomers, the Queen of the United Kingdom and Empress of India carried considerable girth." 3. Queen Victoria's underpants are powerful, sort of.
